Why the dish by the sink isn’t petty
I’m doing something here, guys! Jeez!
Yes, I’m going to talk about guys again. In an inclusive way, i.e., don’t take my gender assigning words too seriously. Anybody can be oblivious or an ass — that’s not gendered! Also, I don’t mean 100% of guys or gals behave in a certain way. Broad brush strokes here, folks, just get discussion going.
I’ve been reading a lot about guys who are really weirded out, astounded, or hostile, when their wives get angry after the guys have failed to follow through on a simple request she made. A request like one of these: please put that glass in the dishwasher before you go to bed; please pick your socks up off the floor; please put your laundry in the basket. Etc.
If you’d like to read about this too, start here. MBTTTR.
The guys say things like “I will not be pussywhipped!” and “In the grand scheme of life, her request is not important, and she needs to adjust her perspective.” Or maybe they say “I just can’t get upset about something so trivial” or “I have a right to leave it there” and then they secretly think “My wife is insane,” while believing that her upset is proof that he is intellectually superior to her, because he wouldn’t get upset about something so small.
It seems like these guys interpret their wives’ requests in a very particular…
