Wow, we had OPPOSITE reactions to this. I found the remake last night, and my brain said "Oh, they re-made The Wonder Years. Cool, I loved that show. OMG, and they are black this time. That's REALLY GOOD. We need that." I listened to the opening, greedy for the nostalgia of the original show, and was hit with the police talk narrative, and I laughed out loud! Serves me right for pouring some wine and curling up with what I thought wouldn't challenge me. I can't wait to watch more.

But you are right, it's NOT the same show, any more than "Kevin can F Himself" is a remake of "Kevin can Wait" or "King of Queens."
